Greek restaurant near Camden Town Hall: celebrate at Nonòs Judd Street

Camden Register Office is at Camden Town Hall, Judd Street, London WC1H 9JE, on the corner of Euston Road opposite the British Library and St Pancras International. If you're there for a wedding, a civil partnership or a citizenship ceremony, you'll want somewhere close by to raise a glass afterwards. Nonòs Judd Street, our Greek Mediterranean kitchen and bar at 112 Judd Street, London WC1H 9NT, is on the same street, less than 500 metres away, roughly a six-minute walk.

About Camden Town Hall

The building was known as St Pancras Town Hall until 1965, when the London Borough of Camden was formed. It was designed by Albert Thomas in the neoclassical style, clad in Portland stone, and officially opened in October 1937. Its main front faces Judd Street, with three doorways at the centre and huge Corinthian columns rising to a pediment above, and it has been Grade II listed since 1996.

The hall has some history. In January 1959 it hosted a "Caribbean Carnival" organised by the activist Claudia Jones, a precursor of the Notting Hill Carnival. After a major refurbishment that began in 2020, the Town Hall reopened in 2023 as the council's meeting place and as an events venue. Background from Wikipedia's Camden Town Hall page.

From the ceremony to the table

Come out of the Town Hall's Judd Street entrance and head south, away from Euston Road. Nonòs is at number 112, with pavement tables among the olive trees outside. There's no need for a taxi: the walk is short enough for the whole party.

Citizenship ceremonies

Camden Council says its public citizenship ceremonies are usually held on Wednesdays every other week, depending on demand. You can bring one or two guests, and the council suggests allowing two hours from arrival. Your Home Office invitation letter and Camden's citizenship ceremonies page have the details. Afterwards, a long Greek lunch is a fine way to mark the day.

A small party

For a handful of guests, book a table online and tell us you're coming from a ceremony, so we're ready when you arrive. Start with a bottle of prosecco: we pour Prosecco Millesimato from Folini and Prosecco Acquerello DOC, both from the Veneto, by the bottle. Or start with a round of Aperol or Hugo Spritzes. Then share a Nonòs' Meze for two, with hummus, tzatziki, tyrokafteri, Greek salad, olives and pitta, and the Mixed Grill Feast for two: chicken skewer, lamb chops, beef kofta and loukaniko with pitta, Greek salad, fries and tzatziki.

A bigger celebration

For groups of seven or more, see private dining and events. Judd Street is our largest space. The downstairs dining room takes parties of up to 50, and the whole venue can be hired for up to 60 seated or 80 standing. Our events team can put together sharing-style feasting menus, meze boards, cocktail receptions and wine pairings. Email contact@nonos.co.uk with your date and numbers.

Charli came with a group of eight and had the set menu, which was delicious, varied, and with very generous portions (Charli M., Google review). Victor celebrated a family birthday with us and praised the Excellent service, terrace atmosphere and Greek food. (Victor M. J., Google review) Our post on birthdays and date nights has more ideas.
