Some evenings call for more than a quick bite. Birthdays, anniversaries and first dates need a room that feels special without being stiff. Nonòs is our family-run Greek restaurant and bar at 112 Judd Street, five minutes from King's Cross St Pancras, and guests often choose us for exactly those nights. Here is how a celebration usually looks at our table.
A taverna mood, five minutes from the stations
Siobhan put the brief perfectly: perfect for a family dinner or date night.
(Siobhan B., Google review). Tom, visiting London, felt almost like you weren't in the centre of London, but a traditional Greek Taverna.
(Tom E., Google review). That mix of warmth and city convenience is what we aim for when you are marking something.
Victor brought his family for a birthday: We celebrated our daughter's birthday at Nono's. Excellent service, terrace atmosphere and Greek food.
(Victor M. J., Google review). Tell us when you book if it is a birthday; our team loves looking after those tables. Maya, on Tripadvisor, liked our attentive but not hovering staff
(Maya F., Tripadvisor review), which is the balance you want when the night is about the people at your table.
How to build a celebration menu
Start with mezze to share. Nonòs' Meze for 2 brings hummus, tzatziki, tyrokafteri, Greek salad, olives and pitta. Add filo triangles with spinach and feta, baked feta pastry with honey and sesame, dolmades, or prawn saganaki if you want something richer. Ezio's verdict still makes us smile: Personally, I had never tasted such a delicious hummus before.
(Ezio S., Google review).
For mains, the grill is the crowd-pleaser: lamb chops with lemon, oil and oregano; chicken, pork or lamb skewers; beef kofta; or the Mixed Grill Feast if you cannot choose. Tina, a regular since our early days, wrote: The food, especially anything off the grill, is so flavourful and fresh and the portions are generous.
(Tina, Google review). J. was equally direct: It's been a while since a mixed grill impressed me as much as this one.
(J., Google review).
Danny's order is a good template for a first celebratory visit: he had the spinach and feta filo parcels for starter, and the lamb chops and Greek salad for mains
(Danny T., Google review). Seafood lovers can look to sea bass, grilled octopus with fava, king prawns or kalamari. The full list is on our menus page.
Cocktails, Greek wine and a little theatre
Date nights often start at the bar. A Paloma, Smoky Picante, Espresso Martini, Aperol Spritz or Hugo Spritz sets the tone; Emma called the pornstar martini one of the best.
(Emma H., Google review). For wine, try a Greek bottle such as Agiorgitiko & Syrah from Nemea, Makedonikos red or white, or ask us to pour something by the glass. Tom L. spent an afternoon on Delicious greek wine and a couple of cocktails plus fantastic service.
(Tom L., Google review). Katie noticed the pours too: Very friendly service, generous pours of wine
(Katie H., Google review).
On warm evenings the pavement tables are the romantic choice. Inside, the ground-floor room stays lively; downstairs is better when your birthday group needs its own bubble.
Small table, or a bigger party
A couple or a family of four sits happily upstairs or on the terrace when the weather is kind. For larger birthday groups, our downstairs dining room hosts parties of up to 50, and the whole Judd Street venue can be hired for up to 60 seated or 80 standing. Feasting menus, canapés, meze boards and drinks packages are available through private dining and events. For a normal celebration of six or fewer, simply book a table online and tell us what you are marking.
Finish sweet
Leave room for baklava, Greek yoghurt with honey and nuts, warm chocolate brownie or cheesecake. Acker called Nonòs a complete package. Food, wine, ambience, service, value for money.
(Acker, Tripadvisor review). Dessert is when that package lands.
Reserve your evening
Dinner gets busy, so Tina's advice is still the right one: It can get busy around dinnertime, so a reservation is a good idea
(Tina, Google review). Book a table, browse the menus, and come celebrate with us at 112 Judd Street, London WC1H 9NT. We are open from 8:30 every morning, until 22:00 Sunday to Wednesday and 23:00 Thursday to Saturday.
