Walk-ins and solo dining at Nonòs

Teal Nonòs shopfront on Judd Street near King's Cross

We love a booked table, but we also know London does not always run to plan. Trains overrun, meetings finish early, and sometimes you simply want Greek food without organising a party. Nonòs Judd Street, at 112 Judd Street, five minutes from King's Cross St Pancras, keeps space for walk-ins and solo diners whenever we can. Here is what that looks like in practice.

Fitted in, even when it is busy

Sophie came with colleagues and wrote: Managed to fit us in without a booking too which was super appreciated! (Sophie U., Google review). Leslie arrived alone to a full room: I walked in as a solo diner to a packed restaurant. Somehow, the host found me a table! (Leslie T., Google review). We cannot promise a table every time, especially at peak dinner, but we will always try.

Tom arrived at peak lunch on a first visit to London and still found the team doing their best to seat them; he left recommending the chicken skewers and describing the room as almost like you weren't in the centre of London, but a traditional Greek Taverna. (Tom E., Google review). On Tripadvisor, a recent guest from Paris noted Fast service even though the restaurant was full, delicious dishes. A truly good time! (anoli, Tripadvisor review).

When we are full, Tina's advice still holds: It can get busy around dinnertime, so a reservation is a good idea (Tina, Google review). Lunch, late afternoon and the shoulder of the evening are often kinder to walk-ins than 7:30pm on a Friday.

What works well for one

Solo orders that guests love:

  • A chicken, pork or lamb skewer with fries and salad. Katie called ours maybe my favorite chicken skewer of all time. (Katie H., Google review). Adam found The chicken skewers were incredible: juicy, perfectly seasoned (Adam S., Google review).
  • Lamb chops with Greek salad, fries and pitta, dressed with lemon, oil and oregano.
  • Souvlaki wraps at lunchtime (chicken, pork or halloumi, Monday to Thursday 12–5pm).
  • Mezze for one: hummus or tzatziki with pitta, plus a side of halloumi fries or Greek feta fries. Ezio wrote: Personally, I had never tasted such a delicious hummus before. (Ezio S., Google review).
  • Breakfast until noon: Hash Benedict, shakshuka with chickpeas and warm pitta, or the Nonòs Full English if you have wandered in after a train.

Be careful with the Mixed Grill Feast for 1 if you are alone and not starving. Thomas found the amount of food was enough for 3 person. (Thomas K., Google review). A single skewer plus one dip is often the happier solo plate. One guest was also Really pleasantly surprised with the crispy homemade freshly cut chips. (Google review).

Bar, terrace and a seat with a view of the kitchen

If the dining room is tight, ask about the bar or a pavement table. Jane liked what she could see: Compact open kitchen which looked very clean and well run. (Jane D., Google review). Another Tripadvisor guest wrote: Could see into the kitchen which I think is always a nice extra. (Tripadvisor review). A Greek iced coffee, a Mythos, or a single cocktail with olives is a perfectly respectable solo visit. Emma rated the pornstar martini one of the best. (Emma H., Google review).

M. C. D. noted we are just a couple minutes walk from Euston Station as well as King's Cross, which makes a solo supper before a northbound train very easy.

Practical notes

  • We open at 8:30 every day; breakfast until 12:00, à la carte from noon.
  • Sunday to Wednesday we close at 22:00; Thursday to Saturday at 23:00.
  • Tables are held for a maximum of 2 hours at busy times.
  • If you have allergies, tell us when you sit down. Tess noticed the GF items are very clearly marked! The staff is very aware of allergies (Tess R., Google review).
  • Groups of seven or more should use private dining and events rather than hoping for a walk-in.
