Nonos opened on Judd Street in the summer of 2021. Five years later the family has a second home, a short stroll away at 59 Marchmont Street, just north of Russell Square.
If you already know Judd Street, the easiest way to describe Marchmont Street is this: the same kitchen philosophy, a very different room.
The room
Judd Street is two light-filled floors with a buzz to them. Russell Square is smaller and more intimate, a warm, candlelit dining room with a bar, the kind of place where you order another glass of wine because nobody wants to break the mood by asking for the bill.
It suits dinner for two, a quiet catch-up, or a small group who want to hear each other.
The food
The kitchen sends out the same freshly made Greek cooking Nonos is known for, on a carefully curated menu built for sharing: meze and dips, grills, seafood, salads and desserts. Menus can vary slightly between the two venues and with the season, so check the menu or ask the team on the night.
The bar leans into Greek wines and modern signature aperitifs. If you have never had an Agiorgitiko, this is a good room to start.
Getting there
- Russell Square station (Piccadilly line): about three minutes on foot.
- King's Cross St Pancras: about ten minutes' walk.
- Nonos Judd Street: a few minutes away, so if one is full, the other is close.
Marchmont Street itself is one of Bloomsbury's nicer streets, with independent shops, cafés and a proper neighbourhood feel a few steps from the square.
A note on the name
Some of you will remember this address as Miné Mané. The restaurant is now Nonos Russell Square, run by the same family as Judd Street, so the two venues work as one.
